Update on Bear Creek Flooding – Peck, Idaho

3/17/2026

Dear concerned citizens,

I have been in contact with Nez Perce County officials regarding the restoration of Bear Creek to its original flow. As of March 17, all required permits have been approved, and work is expected to begin shortly.

A temporary berm will be constructed on the Peck side of the creek using rock and debris removed from the creek bed. This measure is intended to help reduce the risk of future flooding; however, it is not a permanent solution and may only provide limited protection during periods of high water. A more permanent solution will happen at a later date.

Thank you to all who have offered assistance with debris removal, and to the community for your continued patience and support. Additional updates will be shared as they become available.

Sincerely,
Mayor Carson
